Our Story
Dulce
Means Sweet
A South American bakery in Melbourne's west, since 2017.
Baking runs in the family
Dulce Bakehouse is Eddie and Gaby, from Chile and Uruguay. Baking runs in Eddie's family: in 1983 his dad, Washington Segovia, opened Panaderia Sud Americana in Yarraville, the first South American bakery in Australia.
In 2017 Eddie and Gaby started their own, and called it Dulce. Rosca con chicharrón, empanadas, chilenitos and vanilla slice: the things his bakery was known for are still on our counter today.
Dulce means sweet, and you'll taste why in almost everything we make. Dulce de leche fills our alfajores, layers our chilenitos and finishes many of our facturas. Next to them on the counter: empanadas, filled and folded by hand, and the breads and cakes we grew up with.
